Donald Rieniets, 78, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at his home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, at S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, rural Monticello, where friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.

Surviving are his son, David (Izabel), Monticello; and two sisters, Sala (Jerry) Knipfer, Grand Mound, and Georgia Lowry, Cascade.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elizabeth Roller; and two brothers, Edward and Robert.
Donald Frederick Rieniets was born Jan. 9, 1937, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the son of George and Effie Tuel Rieniets. Donald received his education in the rural schools near his home. Donald farmed in the Hardscrabble area near Monticello his entire life. He also helped other area farmers with field work and custom bailing. He worked as well at the Jones County Fair and for Crop Production Services.
Don was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, Jones County Farm Bureau, Jones County Cattlemen and Starlighters Theatre.
