Donald R. McDowell, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born on January 28, 1939, in Shelby County, Missouri to Truman and Eula McDowell. Don worked at Collins from June 2, 1960, and retired in 1996 as a Senior Buyer, then sub-contracted until 2001. Don proudly served his country from 1961-1963.
He is survived by his wife Sherry, his daughter, Danell Wells (Bernie Arteberry) of Maquoketa, two stepsons, Todd (Brenda) Souhrada, of Cedar Rapids, and Troy Souhrada of Spanish Fort, AL. His grandchildren, Jessica (Tyson) Rust, of Marion, Zachary Wells of Maquoketa, and Ashley Wells of Davenport. Great-grandchildren, Lyric, and Phoenix Rust, Piper Stoddard, and Abel Wells.
A memorial service will be held in his honor in the Spring of 2025.
