DONALD EARL NIEMEIR

Donald Earl Niemeir, 83,
of South Amana, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at his home. Per Don's wishes, there will be no services. Memorials and condolences may be directed to the family. Kloster Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma; a daughter, Terry (Ron Parr) of South Amana; a son, Darrell of Afghanistan; three grandchildren, Kiley, Wade (Lindsay) and Colt (Mady); and his beloved cat, Patches.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Donald was born April 9, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Frank and Esther Dodge Niemeir. He grew up in the Conroy and Williamsburg area, graduating from Hilton High School in Conroy. Donald and Thelma Wehde were married Feb. 2, 1958, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple lived in Homestead before moving to their farm in South Amana. Donald worked for Amana Refrigeration for more than 50 years and also farmed in South Amana. He enjoyed Oliver tractors, farm sales, horses and car shows. Donald taught all of his grandchildren to drive in his 1932 T-Bucket. He was a notorious practical joker.
