DONALD LEO MCGRANE

Donald Leo McGrane, 68, of Manchester, died at his residence on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016.
He was born Oct. 25, 1947, in Dyersville, the son of Leo T. and Dorothy M. (Drees) McGrane. Donald was a Manchester High School graduate, attended college at St. Ambrose in Davenport, and then graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. Donald served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Donald was a field tax auditor for the Internal Revenue Service for many years, retiring in the early 2000s.
He was a member of the Lions Club and a volunteer for Operation New View. He also did teaching for the Greater Delaware County Foundation.
Donald enjoyed fishing trips with his family and worked on and later owned the family farm.
Survivors include his siblings, Mary Lou (William) March of Hopkinton and Karen (Barry) Davidson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Rita McGrane of Manchester; a brother-in-law, Phil Sperfslage of Manchester; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dianne Sperfslage; two brothers, Kenny and David McGrane; a nephew, Lawrence March; and a great-nephew, Travis Krapfl.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester. with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester, where there will be a 2 p.m. Scripture service. Friends also may call one hour before the service on Wednesday morning at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment, with military rites: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
