Donald M. "Don" Laughlin, 94, longtime resident of Iowa City, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, under the compassionate care of the hospice unit at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25,
at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City (Sunday parking ordinance in effect). Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, where military honors will be provided. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Don's memory to Iowa City Hospice, Regina Foundation or Mercy Hospital Foundation.

Donald Max Laughlin was born April 4, 1921, in Perry, Iowa, the son of Fred and June (Conner) Laughlin. In 1926, his family moved to Iowa City, where he attended schools, graduating from City High School in 1939. During World War II, Don enlisted and served in the United States Army. On April 20, 1947, Don was united in marriage to Mary Scheetz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. The couple raised their family here, and for over 30 years, Don worked for the Iowa City Postal Service.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Eagles Lodge and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge.
His family includes his four children, Linda Mitchell (Jerry) of Coralville, Steven Laughlin (Karen) of Iowa City, Jon Laughlin of Cedar Rapids and Barb Laughlin of Iowa City; two grandsons, David Laughlin and Brian Kindl; and three great-grand-children, Annalise, Landon and Grady.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; brother, Bob; sister, Virginia Sinklier; half brother, Forest Conner; and son-in-law, Clayton Gorder.
