DONALD "DON" L. HERINGTON

Donald "Don" L. Herington, 73, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at home. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.
Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Davenport or Toys for Tots.

Don was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Davenport, Iowa, to Lewis and Evelyn (Daily) Herington. He graduated from Olin High School in 1961. Don married Stephanie Sterner on May 25, 1975, in Olin.
Don owned and operated his own autobody repair shop. He worked for Caterpillar and later drove a truck for Wonder Bread. The grandkids remember his special treat of bringing home Hostess snacks.
Don enjoyed autobody repair and could always be found in his garage. He was most proud of his 1949 Chevy panel truck and 1969 Diamond Rio camper.
He participated in the Walcott Truckers Jamboree for 35 years, as well as the Old Threshers Reunion.
Don was a member of the American Historical Truck Society and St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
He cherished time spent with his family, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 41 years, Stephanie; daughter, Tracee (Tom) Poole; son, Jason (Holly) Herington; daughter-in-law, Ann Herington; grandchildren, Lindsey, Kelsie, Diann, Blaine, Collin, Hannah, Michael and Grace; great- granddaughter, Lilly Anne; sister, Nancy Frahm; and brother, Louie Herington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda; and son, John Herington.
