Donald E. Kness, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at Living Center West Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids. Private inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Donald was born Jan. 23, 1938, in
Guthrie Center, Iowa, the son of Dewey
and Genevieve (Kline) Kness. He graduated from Guthrie Center High School. Donald was united in marriage to Linda Mehaffey on Aug. 28, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was employed at Nash Finch Co. from 1968 until 1999. Donald worked the concession stand at Hawkeye Downs for several years. Donald enjoyed Buddy, his cat, bowling, watching TV, gambling and was an avid Cubs fan! He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Kness of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four children, Michael Kness, Stephen (Machelle) Kness of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tracy (Jerry) Summers of Phoenix, Ariz., and Teresa Kness (Matt Kirk) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren, Alexa, McKena and Barrett Kirk, Samantha Martin and Cody Koch; three great-grandchildren, Kooper, Konner and Karter; a brother, Maurice (Evelyn) Kness of Texas; and many loving extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Mary, Richard, Leila, Ruby, Gladys, Robert, Raymond and Eldred.
