Donald (Don) Wayne Studer, 80, of Mechanicsville, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Mechanicsville Methodist Church with the Rev. Rose Blank officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Don was born Feb. 11, 1936, at his home in Mechanicsville, to Morris and Geneva (McCormick) Studer. He went to school in Mechanicsville and lived in Mechanicsville his whole life. As a boy, Don worked on the farm at home and for other local farmers. He also worked as a carpenter and truck driver. He bought part of the family farm and retired as a farmer.
Don married Phyllis Ruggles of Livonia, Mo., on Aug. 21, 1957, in Unionville, Mo. They had two children, Janice Moffit of Mechanicsville and Dennis Studer of Lisbon. Don is also survived by two granddaughters, Stacey Maschmann and Jessica Moffit; five great-grandchildren with one on the way; brothers, Dale (Clarice) Studer of Mechanicsville and Darrel (Karen) Studer of Iowa City; sister, Betty Scaffinger of Coralville; many nieces and nephews; and lots of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Dean Studer; and half brother, Merle McCormick.
