Donald Dean Vanous, 78, born July 28, 1944, died on Monday, Sept. 5, 2022. Don was raised by his parents, Leo and Francis Vanous, attended Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, and moved to Peoria, Ill., in 1979. Don worked for Rock Island Railroad and Dover Elevator, retiring at the age of 55. He enjoyed hunting, gambling and golfing with his friends.
He is survived by his three daughters, Lori Thomas, Shelly Harmon and Tina Vanous; along with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Cremation entrusted to Schmidt-Haller Burial & Cremation Services of Peoria. Don will be buried next to his parents at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
