Donald Cook, 85, of Iowa City, passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, at Mercy Iowa City. A Celebration of Life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the Kirkwood Room, 515 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City.
Donald Cook was born April 28, 1930, in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Marguerite Cook. He attended Fairfield High School. Donald served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was united in marriage to Janet Laughlin on July 1, 1979. Donald made a career of driving a transport for well over 50 years of his life. He was an avid canine lover and loved to collect and tinker on old automobiles.
Donald is survived by his son, Darren Cook of Iowa City; brother, Bill Cook of Burlington; brother, Larry Cook of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Cook and his parents.
