Donald E. Caldwell, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at Emery Place Assisted Living in Robins. A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment in the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum Columbarium. Per Don's request, there will be no funeral service.
He is survived by three sons, Gary (Jill) of Hiawatha, and Craig (Kim) and Scott, all of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Matthew (Dominique), Eric (Holly) and Alyssa Caldwell and Kayleen Ward; and a great-grandson, Gavin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma "Cozy;" and two brothers, Harry and Earl.
Don was born July 13, 1924, in Independence, the son of Thomas and Lola Caldwell. He married Wilma "Cozy" McMillen on April 8, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. Cozy passed away in 2016. Don was the owner and operator of Caldwell Realty and retired from there after many years of service.
Don was a member of the Shriners and proudly served in the Marine Corps during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart. He enjoyed traveling with Cozy and spending time with his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
