Donald John Brennan was born in Iowa City on November 26, 1933, to Myrtle and John Brennan. After capturing "Best Dancer" in the City High class of '52, Don went on to the University of Iowa and then the Army in 1956.
He married the love of his life, Dolores Stockman, on September 2, 1961. They soon started their family while also growing Don's Grocery and then Burger Chef on the Pentacrest and later, Hardee's in Cedar Rapids. In retirement he became quite the wood worker and toffee maker while cherishing his beautiful grandchildren.
Don passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Christmas morning. He will forever be our Christmas gift.
He is survived by his wife Dody, children, Greg (Teri), Lisa (Dennis) Schintler, and Michael (Larry Newman), and grandchildren Zachary (Casi Roethler- fiancée), Victoria "Sweets," and Clifton.
Donations may be made to Regina.org or the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday January 18 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City followed by Mass of Christian Burial and luncheon.
