Donald L. Boubin, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, March 30, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Dennis Juhl. Family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Private family burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty; children, Michele (Mike) Mitchell of Birmingham, Iowa, Lisa Dlouhy of Cedar Rapids, Amy (Mark) Cassel of Manchester, Dan Boubin and Renee Boubin, both of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Alyssa, Emily, Jake, Carl, Lyle and Henry; brother, Jerry A. Boubin of Independence; sister, Pati (Jerry) Rabik of Shellsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Bonnie; and nephew, J.R.
Don was born Dec. 6, 1942, the son of Jerry and Mary (Klumpar) Boubin, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On Sept. 2, 1967, he was united in marriage to Betty Hockenbury at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Don worked for the city of Cedar Rapids, Universal Engineering, and then at Boubin Muffler & Tire before retirement. He was a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church.
