Donald Lee Auman, 80, of Marion, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital with his family by his side. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Jerry Doellinger. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will
be held on Monday from 4 to
7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Don was born Aug. 23,
1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Lester and Mary (Hejkal) Auman. He graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids. Don was united in marriage to Pat Bowler on Oct. 12, 1957, in Iowa City. Together they raised six children. They resided in Hiawatha for many years until moving to Center Point and then retiring in Marion. He worked at Rockwell Collins for 38 years, retiring in 1995. Don and Pat enjoyed many vacations together after his retirement. His greatest joys were the cabin, fishing and spending time with family. He also enjoyed traveling and casinos, and was an avid Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan.
Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat; his six children, Kathy (Bill) Hornett and Ron (Holly) Auman, both of Hiawatha, Iowa, Rick (Martha) Auman of Land O' Lakes, Fla., Julie Auman and Laurie (Jeff) Davis, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Steve (Trena) Auman of Anamosa, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, Melissa (Alan), Justin (Amy), Andrea (John), Emily, Trent (Ashley), Tyler, Chassidy, Matt, Mallory (Jake), Danielle, Daisha, Damia, Stephanie, Jeffrey and Payton; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob Auman; sister, Betty Kauffman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mary Auman; parents-in-law, George and Earleen Bowler; son-in-law, Gary Luke; brother-in-law, Tom Bowler; sister-in-law, June Auman; and nephews, Gary and Mark Auman.
