Dona, Linda M.
Linda M. Dona, 44, of Mount Vernon, lost her struggle with cancer on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, co-worker, friend. She was in every respect an amazing person.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation. Family and friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday. Lahey Funeral Home, Lost Nation, is assisting the family with services.
Linda was born Aug. 19, 1969, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Karl “Chris” and Patricia (Benishek) Dona. She was united in marriage on Jan. 21, 2005, to John Bishop. After attending AIB she became a certified court reporter. She later received her B.A. degree from Upper Iowa University. Linda was a certified court reporter for the First and Sixth Judicial Districts of Iowa and for the United States District Court for Eastern Michigan. She later became a closed captioner for the hearing-impaired captioning a wide variety of television programming, including the Olympics and the State of the Union address. She was past president and vice president of Iowa Court Reporters Association.
She is survived by her husband; two children, Eva Elizabeth and John Joseph Bishop IV of Mount Vernon; her parents of Delmar; two sisters, Karla (Greg) Frede of Grafton, Wis., and Brenda (Gary) Holderness of Fort Bliss, Texas; maternal grandmother, LaVon Benishek of Wheatland; and father- and mother-in-law, John (Mary) Bishop of Davenport.
Linda was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
Memorials may be left for her children's education fund.
