Dona Jean Vest, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church, Vinton. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home and an hour before service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Dona Jean Vest was born Jan. 2, 1934, in Vinton, Iowa, to Robin and Alberta Vest. She grew up in Vinton and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952. Dona worked in food service and enjoyed her years as a cook at the Cedar Valley Ranch and the Vinton Lutheran Home. She was lifelong member of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and traveled extensively, but her greatest joy came from her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dona is survived by her son, Michael (Donna) Guthrie, Denison, Texas; her daughters, Adonna Lynn Frosch, Denison, Texas, Della Ann (Lynn) Murray, Joplin, Mo., and Wanda Jean Anderson, Urbana, Iowa; sisters, Bernice Wilson, Vinton, Carol (Dick) Wood, Vinton and Cathie (Jim) Struck, Marion; her grandchildren, Bill (Holly) Frosch, Steve Anderson, Shawn (Amanda) Guthrie, Athena Guthrie and Krystal Anderson; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob Vest; sister, Emma and husband, Ralph Thomsen; grandson, Chris Guthrie; and brother-in-law, Wallace Wilson.
The family will direct memorials to Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church.
