Don T. Ross, 86, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Paul Akin officiating. A social time will take place from 10 to
11 a.m. at that Church. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium. For those that desire to contribute, a memorial fund has been established to distribute among Don's many charitable interests.
Don was born June 12, 1936, in Clemons, Iowa, son of Harte and Wanda (Helmcke) Ross. He was a graduate of AIB Business School in Des Moines and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Iowa in 1960.
On Aug. 1, 1964, Don married Nancy Daasch in Iowa City.
Don was the Bursar at the University of Iowa for many years.
He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as Church Elder and Trustee. He was also a member of the Iowa City Masonic Lodge 4, where he was elected Grand Master. Don served on the Johnson County Foster Care Review Board, the State Foster Care Review Board, and was very active in numerous other community groups.
Don was an enthusiastic Iowa Hawkeyes fan and collected homecoming and bowl buttons. He was an avid reader and loved his Kindle. He was artistic, thoroughly enjoyed traveling, attending all kinds of events for his grandchildren, eating a good meal with friends or family, dancing with Nancy, the family Minnesota cabin, sharing bad puns, and participating in the Grayhawks memoirs writing group.
Don is survived by his wife, Nancy; their three children, Andrew (Carolyn) of Ogden, Iowa, Matthew of California and Jennifer (Brian) Kirschling of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Richie, Catherine and Nicholas Ross, and Cooper and Grace Kirschling; his sister, Clarice Davis of Iowa City; and extended family.
