Don Schuldt, 88 of Montezuma, passed away Thursday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2016, at Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial will be in Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church.

Don Kenneth Schuldt was born March 11, 1927, in Elberon, Iowa, the son of Alvin and Mae (Offt) Schuldt. Don was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Keystone and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Marengo. He was a 1945 graduate of Deep River High School. On Jan. 4, 1948, Don was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Marian Doty, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. They farmed nine years south of Deep River, then purchased a farm west of Deep River in 1962. Don enjoyed farming for many years with his sons, Steve and Ron. Don and Marian moved into their home in Montezuma in 1991 from where he continued to help with the farming operation.
Don was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Deep River and served in many offices, including president, treasurer and elder for many years. He was on the Deep River Telephone board and a 50-plus year member of Poweshiek County Farm Bureau.
Don served as Soil District commissioner for many years, was a member of the Montezuma school board, Montezuma Lions Club and Poweshiek County Fair board. He was a Central Iowa Production Credit Association director for many years.
Don and Marian enjoyed time together and with their many friends, including dancing, playing cards and going for drives in his pickup. He also loved going to coffee with his friends. He enjoyed going to church and also spending time with his children and grandchildren and watching them participate in school activities. He enjoyed sports, especially major league baseball, the Cubs being his favorite team.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Audrey Meinke.
Don is survived by his wife, Marian Schuldt of Montezuma; his daughter, Diane (Jerry) Schuebel of Racine, Wis.; his two sons, Steve (Lynn) Schuldt of Deep River and Ron (Deb) Schuldt of Montezuma; nine grandchildren, Josh (Vanessa) Schuebel, Jessica (Peter) Brown, Kara (Chuck) Sinnard, Nicole Genck, Joel (Mary) Schuldt, Kristen (Brent Ricke) Schuldt, Wendy (Jerry) Lester, Brendan Thorson and Cara (Chris) Iverson; 16 great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Shirley (Gary) Thomas of Fruita, Colo., and Gloria Neuhaus of Victor; his brother-in-law, Laverne Meinke of Las Vegas; as well as many other relatives and friends.
