Don Eugene Chalstrom, 88, of Marion, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 24, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Funeral services: noon Friday at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Survivors include his children, Linda Chalstrom, Gary (Sherri) Chalstrom and Edward Chalstrom, all of Marion; and six grandchildren, Matt, Alyssa, Trevor, Danica, Katelynn and Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Mark; and his brother, Clayton.
Don was born Jan. 11, 1929, the son of Carl and Alice (Hutchinson) Chalstrom, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1946. Don served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and with the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On March 30, 1957, he married Georgina Mary Sorenson. She died Nov. 16, 2008. Don was employed at Rockwell Collins for 33 years.
He was a member of Marion First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 298 of Marion.
A memorial fund has been established in Don's memory.
