Don M. Claney, 88, of Clarence, died April 3, 2016, at home. Graveside services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at St. John's Cemetery, Clarence, by Pastor Tommi Boeder.
Born May 17, 1927, in Clarence, Don was the son of Howard and Irene (Ehmke) Claney. He married Dolores Burrichter on Oct. 16, 1949, in Wheatland.
Don was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Clarence American Legion for 70 years.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and had a large bell collection. Don also had a sharpening business in Clarence for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores; daughter, Patricia (Douglas) Horton of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Chad Claney and Lindsay Meade; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Dean Claney of Clarence.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarence Volunteer Fire Department or Clarence Library.
