Freeport, Ill.
Dolores A. Meador, 83, of Freeport, Ill., formerly of Lanark, Ill., went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, with her loving family by her side.
She was born May 18, 1931, in Freeport, Ill., the
daughter of Sam and Lucille (Irwin) Poffen-berger, and was a 1949 graduate of Shannon High School. Dolores married L. Dean Meador on Jan. 1, 1950, in Shannon. She and her late husband farmed and owned their own business. She was a member of the Lanark United Methodist Church.
Surviving are five children, Larry Meador of Lanark, Bruce (Nelda) Meador of Waukon, Iowa, Linda (Doug) Johnson of Lanark, Brian Meador of Beloit, Wis., and Lisa Chapman of Freeport; 10 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Olson of Freeport and Mary (Ken) Rogers of Napa, Calif.; and two brothers-in-law, William (Carol) Meador and Donald (Susie) Meador of Lanark.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2007 and an infant daughter.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Lanark United Methodist Church, with Pastor Rolland Hayag officiating. Interment will be in Lanark Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Russell-Frank Funeral Home in Lanark, with the sharing of memories at 6 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
