Dolores Kremer, 87, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Pinicon Place, Anamosa, following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. A parish rosary will start the visitation at 4 p.m. Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Visitation will conclude at 7 that evening and then resume on Saturday morning after 9:30 at the church. The Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services.

Surviving are her three children, Deacon Douglas Kremer, East Dubuque, Ill., and Sheryl Leonard and James (Mary) Kremer, both of Monticello; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister, June Ann (Eugene) Clark, Cedar Rapids; and Larry (Katherine) Harms, New Bern, N.C.; sisters- and brothers in-law, Joseph (Frank) Kremer, Milwaukee, Ann Noonan, Cedar Rapids, George (Marci) Kremer, Dutton, Mont., Charles (Rosemary) Kremer, Devil's Elbow, Mo., John (Linda) Kremer, Cascade, and Patti Harms, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loras; a son-in-law, Michael Leonard; a brother, Robert; and in-laws, Mary (Warren) Johnson, Robert (Beatrice) Kremer and Richard Noonan.
Dolores Helen Harms was born July 10, 1929, in Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of Eduard and Mary Lawson Harms. Dolores attended Wyoming schools in her early years and graduated from Anamosa Community Schools in 1946. She worked as a telephone operator in Cedar Rapids while also taking her Normal Training course. Dolores taught at Hard Scrabble rural school and also as a substitute teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic School and at the special education school in the Monticello school system.
Dolores married Loras Kremer on June 18, 1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The couple purchased Harms Way Truckline in 1965. They operated the business until 1989. Dolores was bookkeeper for the business. Loras preceded her in death in February 1995.
Dolores was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Fatima Study Club, Parish Council secretary for over 25 years, and was Cub Scout den mother. She also belonged to the Parish Guild and helped on the funeral lunch committee. When she was not busy at church, she was an avid Hawkeye fan, an extremely wonderful cook, and loved to work in her flower and vegetable gardens.
