Dolores (Lorrie) (Frank) Hopkins, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014.
Lorrie is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, James (Hop) Hopkins; their children, Mari Singh, Texas, Jay Hopkins (Cindy Anderson), Fairfax, Julie (Shawn) Kiene and Michael (Joy) Hopkins, both of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren, Carrie (Ty) Fullerton, Aurora, Colo., Joseph (Jennifer) Patton, Big Springs, Texas, Jeremiah, Jessicca and Jillian Hopkins, Chad and Kyle Clark, Courtney Kiene, Austin, Josh and Hannah Hopkins, all of Cedar Rapids; nine great- grandchildren and one on the way; her siblings, Dee Shelton, Farmington, N.M., Mark (Carol) Frank, Patty (Robert) Little, Palo, Vonnie (Ron) Andrle, Coggon, John (Marsha) Frank, Cedar Rapids and Dorothy Coleman, Shellsburg; and sister-in-law, Yumi Frank.
Her beloved, spoiled dog, Sweatpea; her very close friends, Stormy Hollingsworth, Margie Morgan and Jodie Warren, and numerous other friends and family members, also survive.
Lorrie was preceeded in death by her parents, Ilene Burger and Clifford Frank; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Marlys Frank; brother, Lee Frank; brother-in-law, John Shelton; and granddaughter, Jenniffer Hopkins.
Lorrie and Hop made their home in Cedar Rapids for the past 11 years after previously living in Louisiana and Colorado for many years. Lorrie loved teaching all types of art and ceramics classes. She loved the mountains in Colorado and throughout the west. Lorrie also enjoyed making jewelry, reading and traveling throughout the U.S. She was very proud of her years of dedication as a U.S. Air Force wife. Lorrie was a wonderful loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at Community of Christ Church, 1500 Blairs Ferry Rd., Hiawatha. A gathering of family, friends, food and good memories will follow from 3 to 6 p.m. All are welcome.
