Dolores "Dee" Hunt went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 16, 2022. Dee was born Feb. 17, 1930, to Harold and Irene Secrist. She married Byron Hunt on March 28, 1954.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Hunt; and son-in-law, Jeff Weber.
She is survived by her five children, Janet (Rick) Kadlec, Joyce Weber, Jim (Terri) Hunt, Sandy (Carl) Majchrzak and John (Karen) Hunt. She treasured her 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Dee played basketball for Viola High School. She worked many years as an assembler at Rockwell Collins and retired from there in 1992. She then worked as a lunch lady for Cedar Rapids schools.
Dee was a member of Trinity-St. James United Methodist Church. While at Trinity, Dee taught Sunday school for many years and was a Youth Fellowship worker. She also played in the Trinity bell choir.
Dee loved kids and the outdoors. She taught swimming lessons, was a Girl Scout leader (for 50 years!), a Boy Scout leader, canoed the Boundary Waters, and loved to ice skate, bike ride and cross-country ski. She enjoyed going to Minnesota and feeding the bears at a bear reserve. She always was ready for an adventure.
Dee touched many lives and will be greatly missed. To her children, she was The Best Mom Ever.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at noon. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Cory Danley will officiate. Memorials may be made to Matthew 25 in memory of Dolores. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
