Dolores D. Kleinmeyer was born Oct. 3, 1929, in rural Homestead, Iowa, the daughter of Rudolph and Dora (Witte) Sandersfeld. Dolores was united in marriage to Edwin Kleinmeyer on June 19, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead. She was a cook and baker for Colony Village at Little Amana. She loved baking pies, cinnamon rolls, quilting, playing cards with friends and family and going to dances. Dolores had a great sense of humor along with her German phrases. Dolores was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Dolores passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 93 years.
She is survived by three children, Dennis Kleinmeyer of Montana, Barbara (Chuck) Granger of Springfield, Ill., and Tim Kleinmeyer of West Amana; a daughter-in-law, Joan Kleinmeyer of Conroy; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Annette) Sandersfeld of Amana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Lowell, brothers Victor and Russell Sandersfeld, sister LaVerna Folkmann and a daughter-in-law, Susie Williams.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established for Highland Ridge Memory Care Unit or Essences of Life Hospice.
