Dolores A. Miessner, 94, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went home to be with her heavenly father on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Dolores was born on July 26, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Edward and Ruby (Melsha) Kacer. She graduated from Wilson High School, Cedar Rapids, and attended two years of business college. Dolores worked for Manpower and Kelly Services. Her greatest joy was taking care of the home and her family.
Dolores' family, friends and church were very important to her. She was an active member of New Creation Church and of Hus Memorial Church, serving as deacon for many years. Dolores volunteered at Cleveland School for the Rock and Read Program. She also volunteered for the American Cancer Society and belonged to the Walk to Emmaus Community.
Dolores is survived by her children, Larry (Stephanie) Lawrence Jr. of Waddell, Ariz., Deborah (Dennis) Teel of Loves Park, Ill., and Marc (Charisse) Lawrence of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Noah, Brooke, Seth (Jessie), Jessica (Troy), Alisha (Bobby) and Summer (Ken); 14 great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Jasmine, Noah Jr., Ceazer, Olivia, Zoey, Jude, Levi, Skylar Grace, Jericha, Joshua, Ali, Anwir and Faith; brother, Don Kacer (Sharon Black) of Clive, Iowa; sister-in-law, LaVonne Kacer of Clear Lake, Iowa; brother-in-law, Fred Schindler of Cedar Rapids; several nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as, many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Larry Lawrence and Dale Miessner; infant son, Craig Lawrence; granddaughter, Emily Lawrence; grandson, Joshua Teel; and sister, Kay Moscrip.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Living Center West for the wonderful care the staff gave to Dolores. The "Little Bird" has flown home.
Memorials may be sent to Hus Memorial Church in Dolores' memory.
