Dolly Bridge-Kauffman, 86, a resident at Summit Pointe Senior Living Community, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Ardel Barta as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Inurnment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, at a later date.
Dolly was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Nellie Mercurio Gentle. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton in 1945. On Aug. 27, 1951, Dolly was united in marriage with Glenn Bridge. He preceded her in death in 1985. She married Clark Kauffman on June 24, 1994. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Dolly worked at the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in Vinton, retiring in 1985. Dolly was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion.
Dolly is survived by one son, Joseph A. (Sonja) Bridge of Cedar Rapids; one grandchild, Stephanie (James Heistand) Bridge of Hiawatha; and one sister, Dorothy Gentle, of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and one sister, Rose "Babe" Gentle.
