Dolezal, Arline Aurelia Stahle
Arline Aurelia Stahle Dolezal, 100, formerly of Iowa City, died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in St. Louis, Mo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, with Father Gary Beckman officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where the Catholic Daughters will recite a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Catholic Daughters of America or American Heart Association.
Arline was born Oct. 6, 1912, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond John Stahle and Edith Estelle Whittington Stahle. She was raised on a farm near Downey, Iowa and graduated from West Branch High School.
Arline also graduated from Iowa City Business College. On Aug. 12, 1933, Arline married Otto William Dolezal in Iowa City. For many years Arline was employed as bookkeeper and sales clerk at Montgomery Ward, retiring after 45 years. She also worked at Four Seasons in downtown Iowa City for 40 years.
She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, National Catholic Society of Foresters and a life member of Ladies of the Moose, American Business Woman's Association and was Woman of the Year in 1975.
In 1999, Arline moved to Chesterfield, Mo., to be near her son and his family.
Survivors include her son, Allen (Nancy) Dolezal of Chesterfield; four grandchildren, Julie (Greg) Dillon, Jeff (Patricia) Dolezal, John Dolezal and Janice Dolezal; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Shea and Connor Dillon and Haley Dolezal; and her brother, Arlo (Phyllis) Stahle of Pueblo, Co. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Arline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto William Dolezal; grandson, Gregg Allen Dolezal; and siblings, Maurita Stahle Glick, Roger Raymond Stahle and Neil Norman Stahle.
