Doermann, Erwin Christian
Funeral services for Erwin Christian Doermann, 95, of Tipton, who died Friday, April 22, 2011, will be held Tuesday, April 26, at 11 a.m. at First United Church of Christ, Tipton, with Pastor David Lorenzen officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Clarence.
Erwin was born Oct. 23, 1915, the son of Charles and Wilhelmina (Brinkmann) Doermann, in rural Lowden. He attended Tipton Community Schools and married Dorothy Lehrman on Jan. 5, 1941, at St. John's Church Parsonage in Clarence. She died in December 2008.
The couple farmed (both livestock and crops) most of their married life in the rural Tipton area. Mr. Doermann served a number of years on the Cedar County Cooperative Board in Tipton. He was a member of First United Church of Christ in Tipton.
He thoroughly enjoyed their farming career, gardening with his wife, entertaining his grandchildren, trips to Oklahoma and his family.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his daughters, Elaine (Ron) Clemmens of Yukon, Okla., and Sharon (Rodney) Laucamp of Tipton; grandchildren, Brian (Tammy) Clemmens, Brad (Tracy) Clemmens and Brent (Kristi) Clemmens, all of Yukon, Okla., Michelle (Brian) Boyd and Matthew Pruess (and Matt's significant other, Kristie Crandall) of Mechanicsville; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Blake, Colin, Baylee and Kennedy Clemmens of Yukon, Okla., and Nick and Parker Boyd of Mechanicsville; stepgrandchild, Chad (Lisa) Laucamp of Chicago; stepgreat-grandchild, Zachary (Tori) Linhardt of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Vera Eiben of Wheatland, Darlene (Raldo) Horman of Tipton, Mary Louise (Harold) Horman of Lowden; sister-in-law, Margaret Doermann, Anamosa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years; and brothers, Eric, Melvin and Lavern Doermann.
