Dodge, Bernice A.
Bernice A. Dodge, 94, of Independence, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at West Village Care Center in Independence following a short illness. She was born on Nov. 10, 1915, in Buchanan County, southeast of Brandon, Iowa.
Mrs. Dodge is survived by one son, Johnny (Nancy) Dodge of Independence; 2 daughters, Judith (Donald) Scott of Independence, and Joyce (Herb) Rasmussen of Harpers Ferry, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Carol Dodge of Ankeny, Iowa. She is also survived by one sister, Lucille Bergmann of Frederika, Iowa, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dodge; her parents; two sons, James Dodge and Jerry Dodge; and two grandsons, Tony Dodge and Jonathan Dodge.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence. Private burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Independence at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at White Funeral Home, Independence. Online condolences may be left at .
