Dixie Anne Twiselton, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at Northbrook Care Center after fighting her battle with Alzheimer's disease. Memorial services: noon Thursday, Nov. 9, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 11 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Kelly Sharp of Phoenix, Ariz., Sarah Twiselton of Cedar Rapids and Karl Twiselton; daughter-in-law, Cindy Twiselton; four grandchildren, Lenny Sharp, Matthew Sharp, Jennifer Espinal and Joshua Twiselton; six great-grandchildren; three nephews; and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernell "Bernie" Twiselton; son, Kevin Twiselton; parents, Carl and Nellie Peterson; sister, Sandra Sevening; brother, John Peterson; and son-in-law, Leonard Sharp.
Dixie was born Jan. 31, 1933, to Carl and Nellie (Burlingham) Peterson. She attended Franklin High School, Cedar Rapids. On Oct. 12, 1957, Dixie married Bernie Twiselton. She worked as a bookkeeper for Turner Microphone (Conrac Corp.), Bezanson, Whitehead Insurance and Millhiser Smith Insurance. Retiring in 1998, Dixie took time to enjoy reading, crafting, bird watching, gardening and an occasional margarita. She also enjoyed being around her granddogs.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
