Dixie B. Holt, 87, of Edgewood, formerly of Delhi, Urbana and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday morning, Dec. 20, 2021, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood, Iowa. A private family funeral service will be held at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa. Interment: Hazleton (Fontana) Cemetery, Hazleton, Iowa. Dixie Bell Destival was born July 31, 1934, in rural Hazleton, Iowa, the daughter of Doras "Doc" and Rosa (Thurn) Destival. She graduated from Stanley High School in Stanley, Iowa. In 1951, she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Holt. This union was blessed with three sons: Stanley, Roger and Marlon. They later divorced. Dixie was employed at Quaker Oats for 25 years. She enjoyed taking care of her cats, Jimmy and Joey; and her dog, Kazaan. Dixie also enjoyed going out to eat and traveling.
Dixie is survived by her son, Stan (Angela) Holt of Delhi; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Holt of Harpers Ferry and Sharon Holt of Quasqueton; brother, Charles (Sondra) Destival of Charon, Conn.; and nieces and nephews.
