Dittmar, Robert E.
Robert E. Dittmar, 79, of Vinton, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton following a sudden illness. Cremation has been accorded and private services will be held at a later date with inurnment in Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg.
Bob was born June 18, 1931, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Phil and Margaret Drizadent Dittmar. On Dec. 24, 1978, Bob was united in marriage with Katheryn Olson in Vinton.
Bob worked at Perfex in Vinton, CR Clean-Up and Hupps Electric, both in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1974. He enjoyed tinkering around, fishing and gardening.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kathy of Vinton; three sons, Richie (Debbie), Robbie and Marvin (Becky) Dittmar, all of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Bev (Wes) Stripine of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Al and Louie Dittmar, both of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
A memorial fund has been established.
