Dittmar, Lewis J.
Lewis J. Dittmar, 75, of 1193 Fourth St., Marion, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa after a long illness. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eagle Ridge Mobile Home Court, 1285 Red Fox Way, off Highway 13. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughter, Teresa (Mike) Schmickle of Florida; a son, Michael (Allie) of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Alfred of Marshalltown and Rudy of Colorado; five grandchildren, MichaelII (Tiffany), Andrew, Reagan, Taylor and Benjamin; and four great-grandchildren, Ravyn, Madilyn, Zavier and Karmyn.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Lewis was born June 12, 1936, in Iowa City, the son of Philip and Louise (Dresden) Dittmar. He married Barbara E. Magarell on Aug. 10, 1957, in Cedar Rapids. Lewis was an operating engineer for Martin Marietta, retiring from there after 28 years of service.
Lewis enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and especially time spent with his beloved family and many friends.
