Dirks, Eldon W.
Eldon W. Dirks, 65, of Marion, died in his home of pancreatic cancer on Thursday, March 10, 2011, with his family at his side. Per Eldon's request, there will not be a visitation or funeral service. A private Christian burial will be held at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Monticello at a later date.
His family includes his wife, Judi; his sons, Matthew (Nicé) of North Liberty and Daniel (Angela) of Crystal, Minn.; his grandchildren, Isabella, Anthony and Severiana; brothers, Gerald (Betty), Merle (Etta) and Loren (Barbara), all of Monticello; and a large, loving extended family.
Eldon was born the son of August and Loretta (Wilken) Dirks on Sept.
26, 1945, in Monticello, Iowa. He was educated in Monticello and received a BBA in business administration at the University of Iowa. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969-71. He was a vice president for the Farm Credit system until 1987, after which he was self-employed until his illness.
