Dirk C. Weerman, 78, of rural Washington, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A celebration of Dirk's life will be held beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, in the Dallmeyer Building at the Washington Fairgrounds.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dirk's memory.

Dirk Charles Weerman was born May 29, 1937, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Klofstein) Weerman. He was united in marriage to Karen E. Gibson on July 21, 1979. For most of his life he had been in the construction business in the area.
His family includes his wife, Karen; children, Kathy Fewins, Ammon Weerman and Misty Weerman; stepson, Donald Cibert; and sisters, Betty Dill and Freida Dill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sue Burke.
