Dircks, John Jay
John Jay Dircks, 39, of Allison, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2011, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly, Iowa. He was born Jan. 29, 1972, in Des Moines, Iowa, to William “Bill” Joseph Schmitz and Rena Harvey. John graduated from the North Linn High School in Troy Mills, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Kris Thompson on Jan. 8, 2005, in Allison. John owned and operated Ag Concrete Specialist in Allison. He was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. John enjoyed cooking, snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting and spending time with his friends and family, especially his granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Kris Dircks of Allison; daughter, Kate Johnson of Waverly; son, Alex Johnson of Allison; daughter, Penny Jaylyn Dircks of Marion; granddaughter, Chloe; mother, Rena; brothers, Randy, Scott, Steve and Jeff (Kelly); sisters, Jolene (Tim) and Billie Jo (Cory); many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and two great-nephews.
John was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, and his father, Bill.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Allison. Burial will take place in the Allison Cemetery. Pastor Gary Mulder will officiate the service.
