Dietze, Gerald Leroy Sr.
Gerald Leroy Dietze, Sr. was born January 29, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Dean and Louine (Schwab) Dietze. Gerald was united in marriage to Cheryl Mae Holeton on April 16, 1966 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. He worked for Metro Pavers for many years retiring in 2006. Gerald enjoyed going to the Landmark and Riverside Casino. He died Monday, March 12, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics at the age of 70.
He is survived by three sons, Gerald Jr. (Laura) Dietze of Keota, and Gary (Jen) Dietze and Gregory (Carrie) Dietze of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren, Trisha (Jeff) White, Cathrine Dietze, Courtney Brenneman, Ashley, Daniel, Hannah and Jenna Dietze, and Camden Kemp; two sisters, Kay (Levi) Williams of Williamsburg, and Carol (Chet) Ballard of North English; and two brothers, Jim (Jane) Dietze of Williamsburg, and Ron (Sherry) Dietze of Marengo. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cheryl, in 1995; and a grandson, Johnathon Dietze.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Messages and tributes may be left at under obituaries.
