Dickinson, Jeffrey Paul
Jeffrey Paul Dickinson, 56, of Brighton, died Thursday evening, Oct. 3, 2013, due to injuries from a farm accident.
He was born April 14, 1957, in Fairfield to Ralph “Dubs” and Kathryn Chuck Dickinson. Jeff lived his entire life in Brighton and graduated from Washington High School in 1975. He married Paula Shaffer on Jan. 8, 1977; they were later divorced. He married Sue Murphey on Nov. 15, 1997; they were later divorced. Jeff was a member of Sts. Joseph & Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain.
He is survived by two daughters, Kelly Dempsey of North Liberty and Kayla Heath (Jeremy) of Iowa City; four grandchildren; parents, Dubs and Kathryn Dickinson of Brighton; two sisters, Laura Kohnert (Rich) of Urbandale and Kaye Stewart (Anthony) of Washington; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Raquel Thomas of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Sts Joseph & Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Robert Striegel officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, East Pleasant Plain. Visitation with the family will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Sts. Joseph & Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain, followed by prayers for a Christian wake at 8 p.m.
Memorials for St. Joseph Cemetery or for a memorial to be decided later may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 1440 Hwy 1 & 78, Brighton.
Gould Funeral Home, Brighton, is in charge of arrangements.
