Diane Marie Lancaster, 72, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at Northbrook Manor Care. Diane was born on Aug. 26, 1948, in Burlington, Iowa. She was a loyal employee at Souvenir Pen & Pencil for 30 years. Diane will be remembered as a compassionate soul. She cared for her mother until her death in 1997. She loved all animals and rescued many. She would strike up a conversation with anyone and loved everybody. She loved to sing and of course, drink beer with her friends.

Special recognition to Randy and Bruce who helped Diane for several years prior to her moving to Northbrook Manor Care. Enough thanks cannot be given to the wonderful staff at Northbrook Manor Care who so lovingly kept Diane's dignity and spirit alive until the end.

Survivors include her sister, Debra Lancaster of Cedar Rapids; special friend, Bruce Berg of Cedar Rapids; and cousins, Randy (Susie) Thede and Linda Lindsey, all of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, David and Daniel Lancaster; and her parents, Dave and Doris Lancaster.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
