Diane K Smith, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at her home. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Hillside Wesleyan Church by Pastor Rich Hendrix. A private family burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Per Covid guidelines, attendees are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.

Diane is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Robert) Lillibridge of Cedar Rapids; her son, Tim (Mary Pat) Smith of Scottsdale, Ariz.; her stepchildren, Ernest (Betsy) Smith of Greenland, Ark., Ruth Owens of Benton County and Margaret (Larry) Gray of Fort Myers, Fla.; her grandchildren, Kati Lillibridge, Matthew Smith and Amanda Smith; a great-grandson, Drew Hartford, on the way in March; and special nephew and niece, Charles and Janet Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 1969; her granddaughter, Jeni Rose Lillibridge; her parents; and her brothers, Richard and Robert Kohl.

Diane was born on Nov. 20, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Earl and Evelyn Smith Kohl. She graduated from McKinley High School and attended Mount Mercy College. On Sept. 17, 1960, she married Ernest Smith in Cedar Rapids. Diane worked as a restaurant cashier at Armstrong's and later as a community living assistant for Discovery Living Inc. She also volunteered at Treasure's. Diane was a member of Hillside Wesleyan Church.

Diane had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to go camping and being with her grandchildren, her church community and her many friends. Diane will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Memorials may be directed to the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center in Diane's name.
