Diane G. Bishop, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospice, Cedar Rapids. Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Christ Church Presbyterian, 2000 First Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Diane was born April 13, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Ruth (Stoddard) Bishop. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Coe College, then the University of Iowa, receiving her master's degree. Diane was a teacher for many years when she realized her calling to ministry. She attended the University of Dubuque Theology Seminary and became an interim pastor for many parishes, which included Morning Sun, Olivet, Cedar Rapids, Miles, Sabula, Preston, Clarksville, Newhall and Coggon. She was a loyal person, not withholding her strong opinions. Diane was devoted to serving God and the church. She enjoyed fishing in northern Minnesota, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. Diane loved her cats, Suzie, Jenny, and Tommy.
Diane is survived by her sister, Linda (Gary) Roberts; nieces, Gayle Roberts and Rachel (Brian) Stark; great-nephews, Jeremy Brislawn and James (Alicia) Brislawn; great-niece, Josie Harkness; and great-great-nephews, Carter Brislawn and Julian Brislawn.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
