Diane Bearden, 66, of Waverly, formerly of Marshalltown, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Waverly Medical Center.
A celebration of life will be held at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018.
She is survived by her children, Jason (Sara) Groomes and Brad (Farrah) Groomes; a brother, David Stackhouse, two stepdaughters, Heather and Jennifer; six grandchildren, Devin, Wesley, Madolyn, Caleb, Jasper and Hannah; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steven; brothers, William and Chris; a nephew, Curtis; and a great-nephew, Kevin Jr.
Diane was born May 8, 1951, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Shirley (Thorpe) Stackhouse. She attended and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1969. Later on she had two children, Jason (Sara) Groomes of Waverly and Brad (Farrah) Groomes of Cedar Rapids. She worked various cashier's jobs in and around the Marshalltown area.
On Aug. 2, 1997, she married Steven Bearden in Marshalltown. Shortly thereafter, they moved to North Carolina, eventually settling in Apex. In February of 2017, she returned to Iowa to be closer to her family. She was an avid fan of the Food Network and was a very good cook in her younger days, especially with her homemade caramel corn.
