Diana Mary Wenndt, 51, of Davenport, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill., following a lengthy illness/hospital stay. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., with a viewing starting at 10 a.m., Friday, July 18, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097 18th St., Bettendorf, IA 52722. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 17, with a vigil service following at 7 p.m., at Cedar Memorial, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
Surviving is her husband of 21 years, Sharm Wenndt; 12 brothers and sisters, David (Joleen) Erpelding of Lake View, Therese Erpelding of West Des Moines, Gene (Shelly) Erpelding of Edgeley, N.D., Jerome Erpelding of Pierz, Minn., Mark (Melinda) Erpelding of Algona, Dennis (Fon) Erpelding of Indianapolis, Ind., Duane Erpelding of Algona, Sue (Dan) Schmitz of Des Moines, identical twin, sister Donna (Joe) Henkels of Granger, Karen (Mike) Kordick of Norwalk, Lou (Coe) Erpelding of Winterset and Kevin (Denise) Erpelding of Washington; mother-in-law, Eleanor "Ellie" Wenndt of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Cindy (Todd) Hutcheson of Marion; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Mary Katherine Erpelding of Whittemore; and father-in-law, Lavern Wenndt.
Diana was born Nov. 27, 1962, in Algona, Iowa. She married Sharm Wenndt on July 10, 1993, in Whittemore. Diana graduated from University of Northern Iowa and got her masters of education from Mary Crest in Davenport. Diana began her teaching career in Ottumwa. Upon her marriage, they moved to Osceola and she taught in the Murray Community School District. From there, they moved to Cedar Rapids, where she taught at College Community School District.
