DesCombes, Robert L.
Robert L. DesCombes, 74, of 2039 Park Ave. SE, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab after a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where there also will be military rites. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Julie Cronin of Thornton, Colo.; two brothers, Fred (Linda) of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Dave of Palmdale, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Darrell) Fisher and Carol (Ron) Knapp, both of Marion; two grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Raven.
Bob was born Aug. 20 1937, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Leslie and Olan Fender DesCombes. He married Nancy L. Merritt on Oct. 6, 1984, in Marion. Bob was a Realtor for several years. He later worked at Phelan's Interiors in its paint department for 20 years and retired from Klingler Paint in Marion in 2004.
Bob was a member of American Legion Post 727, the Mustang Club, the NRA and proudly served in the Army in Alaska.
He enjoyed antiques, going to tag and garage sales and especially the time he spent with his beloved family.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation or to Cedar Valley Humane Society in Bob's name.
