Derwin R. Elliott, 97, of Cedar Rapids, died Jan. 19, 2014, at Keystone Cedars. Masonic services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at Cedar Memorial Park
Chapel of Memories by Crescent Lodge A.F. & A.M. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories
Mausoleum.
Surviving are his daughters, Joy (Gary) Brecht of Liberty, Mo., and Pamela (Paul) Palmer of Kingwood, Texas; grandchildren, Julie, Jill, Jeff and Katie; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a niece, Susan Shankland of Waverly.
Derwin was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Marjorie A. Elliott in 2012.
Derwin Royal Elliott was born Jan. 6, 1917, in
Cedar Rapids, the son of Lester and Daisy (Harkness) Elliott. He worked for Rockwell Collins for many years before retirement. He was married to Marjorie on April 28, 1956, in Newton.
He was a member of various organizations which included Crescent Lodge 25 A.F. & A.M., where he was Past Master; Cedar Rapids Valley of the Scottish Rite, where he was coroneted with the 33rd Degree Honorary and served as Registrar; the El Kahir Shrine, where he was Past Potentate; Cedar Rapids Marion Area Transportation Club, Cedar Rapids Traveling Men's Club and Iowa Seniors Golf Association.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Derwin's honor be directed to the Shriners Hospital for Children -- Twin Cities, 2025 E. River Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN 55400 or El Kahir Shrine Transportation Fund, 1400 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Derwin's close friend, Karl Green, the staff of Keystone Cedars and Unity Point Hospice.
