Derek Lynn Moeller, 56, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at his home in rural Toledo due to natural causes.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Turner Cemetery in rural Garwin. Visitation will be Friday, June 29, 2018, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at
the funeral home.
Derek was born on Feb. 4, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Arlene Moeller.
He graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1980.
He married Becky Snyder and they later divorced. Derek was a longtime companion of Amy Jo Haggard until her death in 2016. He was a truck driver for over 20 years and also worked for Thomsen's farm in rural Garwin. Derek enjoyed woodworking and other projects. He also enjoyed traveling and hanging out with his friends and family at the Garwin VFW and the Garwin Bull. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his two daughters, Amanda Moeller of Marshalltown and Heather Kleinhans of Marshalltown; two sons, Ryan Snyder of Marshalltown and Wade Moeller of Marshalltown; seven grandchildren, Alexis, Mercadez, Arryanna, Lydia, Lainey, Aleah and Leo; his mother, Arlene McCauley of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Deanna (Bob) Lewis of Atkins; one nephew, Brandon Lewis; two aunts, Wilma Varner and Kathleen Schilling; three cousins; and two dogs, Yao Jing and Buddy.
He was preceded in death by one son, Derek Snyder; his friend and companion of 16 years, Amy Jo Haggard; and one cousin, Heidi Schilling-Monteith.
A memorial fund has been established.
