Dennis Lee Williams, 62, of Manchester, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 4, 2014.
He was born June 18, 1951, the son of Charles and Anna (Badger) Williams, in Oelwein, Iowa. Dennis attended West Delaware High School. He served honorably in the United States Marines during the Vietnam conflict.
Dennis had an accident-free career of driving his semi-truck for 29 years. He also was a welder at Henderson's Manufacturing. Dennis lived in Indiana for 17 years before returning to Manchester in 2005.
Dennis was a longtime member of the American Legion. He enjoyed visiting on the phone, fishing, outdoor power sports and camping.
Dennis is survived by his three children, Brandy (Jason) Baxter of Cedar Rapids, Cpl. Jacob (Katilyn) Williams of California and Joshua Williams of Indiana; his grandson, Connor Rissi; his siblings, Jerry (Lynda) Williams of Marion, Judy (Charles) Bemer of Cedar Rapids, Bill Williams of Manchester and Carolyn Williams-White of Man-chester; and his three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Strauss of Taneyville, Mo., Donna Williams of Ryan and Dianne Williams of Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Williams; three brothers, Charles, Francis and Larry; one sister, Pamela Williams; two nephews, Kenny Williams and John White; and a niece, Stacie Williams.
A memorial fund has been established in Dennis's name to benefit the Iowa City VA Health Care System.
