Dennis "Seymour" J. Hoefer, 63, of Quasqueton, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He was born on Oct. 20, 1955, in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Gerald F. and Verna M. (Goedken) Hoefer. His family moved from Dyersville to the Masonville area in the early 1960s. He was a 1974 graduate of East Buchanan High School in Winthrop, Iowa. After high school, he worked with Joe Gallery tiling many fields throughout Eastern Iowa. On April 26, 1980, he married the love of his life, Janet Ellen Lange, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop. Shortly after, they made their home in Quasqueton, Iowa. He owned and operated Hoefer Construction for more than 30 years.
For more than 34 years, he coached the Little League baseball team in Quasky and spent many enjoyable hours at the baseball diamond making Hoefer Park what it is today. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Buffalo Creek Golf Course. He also was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and his beloved Green Bay Packers.
The city of Quasky held a special place in Seymour's heart. He spent countless hours volunteering throughout the town. He truly thought of the citizens of Quasqueton as family.
