DENNIS M. PETERSON
Marion
Dennis M. Peterson, 79, of Marion, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, after a short illness. There will be no funeral per Dennis's request. Visitation: 12 - 4 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Lynn (Chad) Bruggemann of Urbandale; grandchildren, Nicholas, Brooke and Mitchell Bruggemann; siblings, Phillip (Patty) Peterson of Marion, Susan (Ed) Reed of Omaha, Nebraska, and Kathy Mosley of Cedar Rapids.
Dennis was born October 31, 1937 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Elvic and Harra-Lee (Rockey) Peterson. He graduated from Marion High School in 1956. Dennis married Sandra Clark on August 3, 1963 in Greene, Iowa. He was a very dedicated employee at Collins Radio-Rockwell Collins for 37 years and retired in 1994.
Dennis enjoyed boating on the Cedar River where he built and owned a boathouse, and from there he and Sandra bought a cabin on Lake Delhi which the family enjoyed for 22 years. Other enjoyments were: yearly gathering of playing horse shoes with his friends at his home; walking and having coffee with his close high school friends at "Mr. Beans" and the monthly breakfast with former work mates. He loved his wife of 53 years; adored his daughter, respected her husband and treasured all 14 years with his grandchildren. Anyone who knew Dennis well, always appreciated his sense of humor.
No matter what our status in life, our creator will remember every person and he gives us a promise and hope. John 5:29 "The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear Jesus voice and come out….. Rev 21:4 "There will be no more tears, mourning, nor pain, and death itself will have passed away."
A memorial fund has been established in Dennis's memory.
